Tayenebe
Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery
Tayenebe is a Tasmanian Aboriginal word meaning ‘exchange’. It is also the title of a unique project supporting Tasmanian Aboriginal women in the revival of traditional fibre artwork skills. Integral to Tayenebe is the sharing of knowledge between people and across time. A series of fibre workshops facilitated by Arts Tasmania will culminate in a touring exhibition which will initially open at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in July 2009.
